Disney’s Emotional ‘Inside Out 2’ Is Tailor-Made For A Therapy-Obsessed Culture

Published

on

It must be said that it was nice to spend a Saturday afternoon in a tightly packed movie theater full of people who are enthusiastic to see a movie. That doesn’t happen frequently anymore, shy of hyper-successful films like “Dune: Part II” and “Barbie.” It is rare nowadays to get turned away at the box office because the theater is full, as the guy behind me was; my local theater is still having trouble giving away free “Furiosa” posters.

However, it shouldn’t be surprising that animated films would be the things that break the trend. “Kung Fu Panda 4” grossed $545 million this spring primarily because it was the only animated movie in theaters through three months, and “Despicable Me 4” is currently tracking for an $80 million opening for the July 4 weekend. April’s rerelease of “Shrek 2” grossed more than Pixar’s last three releases combined

Naturally, the surprise comes in the fact that this opening is for a Disney film — coming from a studio that is facing enormous amounts of burnout and controversy due to its perceived partisan slant, declining quality, and proclivity for anti-creative decision-making, and that doesn’t include this week’s Project Veritas sting. In 2019, Disney produced eight of the 10 most popular blockbusters of the year, and seven of them broke the billion-dollar mark at the box office. In 2023, seven of their eight films were box-office disasters. Disney is an unwieldy unprofitable sinking ship, and the majority of its franchises are battered and exhausted.

Leftists Get What They Paid For In Wisconsin Supreme Court Flip-Flop Allowing Ballot Drop Boxes

Published

on

They say you get what you pay for. Swing state Wisconsin is getting the erosion of election integrity laws, thanks to a mountain of leftist money that changed the makeup of the state’s Supreme Court.

On Friday, just as President Joe Biden was slated to make a campaign visit to capital city and leftist enclave Madison, the left-leaning Wisconsin Supreme Court reversed a previous court ruling and endorsed the widespread use of absentee ballot drop boxes in November’s election. The ruling opens the door to the same kind of election shenanigans that plagued the Badger State in 2020.

“Our decision today does not force or require that any municipal clerks use drop boxes. It merely acknowledges what [state statute] has always meant: that clerks may lawfully utilize secure drop boxes in an exercise of their statutorily-conferred discretion,” the 4-3 ruling states.

But that’s not how the Wisconsin Supreme Court saw the matter in 2022 when the then-conservative majority ruled that widespread use of unattended absentee drop boxes violated state law. The court ruled that way because the statutes in question do not allow for the widespread use of absentee drop boxes.

“The law’s requirement that a ballot be returned in person to the municipal clerk does not mean leaving it somewhere for the clerk to pick up,” said Rick Esenberg, president and general counsel of the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty, the Milwaukee-based public interest law firm that filed the original lawsuit opposing the proliferation of the drop boxes.

Joe Biden Is Not A Decent Man

Published

on

Even as they attempt to force him out, Democrats are still praising the sterling character of the president, especially in contrast to Trump. But that’s always been a lie.

As corporate media and a growing number Democrats try to force Biden to stand down — an effort that, at the moment, appears to be failing due to the adamant refusal of the Biden family including his wife, Dr. Jill, and son, Hunter, to give up power — the standard refrains heard on MSNBC and CNN debates about the issue always include the requisite tribute to his greatness as a president and his inherent decency and goodness.

We can dismiss the claim that his administration has been a great success, an astonishing disconnect with the reality of an inflation-ridden economy, open border, and a world in chaos on his watch, that is nonetheless ritually repeated regularly on the left-wing news channels. But Democrat partisans actually think they are on firmer ground in affirming that he’s a great guy — and therefore a stark contrast to Trump, whom they denounce as personally evil — even as they come to grips with the fact that he lacks the mental acuity to be the leader of the free world.

But the notion that “Scranton Joe” is a nice guy is as wrongheaded as the claim that he’s mentally competent or a brilliant leader.

The one constant about Biden has been his essential meanness, which, when combined with his

‘Bad Night,’ ‘Bad Cold,’ Trump ‘Shouting,’ Oh My! Biden Spouts More Excuses For Debate Flop

Published

on

Joe Biden and his team continue to spout a stream of excuses for his abysmal first 2024 debate performance, with the latest attempted justifications coming straight from the president himself.

During a sitdown interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos on Friday, Biden blamed exhaustion, a “bad night,” not listening to his “instincts in terms of preparing,” a “really bad cold” and “feeling terrible,” former President Donald Trump “l[ying] 28 times,” and Trump “shouting” and distracting him.

These excuses follow a week-long effort by the White House to defend Biden’s startlingly bad debate performance. For her part, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre cited jet lag, a cold, and old age before insisting the president is “as sharp as ever” at a press briefing Wednesday right before the long holiday weekend.

“There’s no question that international travel can be rigorous. I think the confusion is that he’s still suffering from the effects of that nearly two weeks later,” a reporter asked. “[D]o you guys usually have accommodations for him after he does a trip, that he’s gonna have jet lag for that long a period of time?”

“It’s the jet lag and also the cold, right?” Jean-Pierre insisted, “It is the two things, uh, that occurred.”

REPORTER: How is it possible that Biden would suffer from “jet lag” two weeks after he got back from his trip…?
