Transportation Safety Board Proposes Dystopian Technology To Limit Your Speed While Driving

Published

on

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is calling on “intelligent speed assistance technology” (ISA) to be mandatory “in all new cars” after a fatal accident in Nevada killed nine people.

In a press release last week, the federal agency outlined how ISA “uses a car’s GPS location compared with a database of posted speed limits and its onboard cameras to help ensure safe and legal speeds.”

“Passive ISA systems warn a driver when the vehicle exceeds the speed limit through visual, sound, or haptic alerts, and the driver is responsible for slowing the car,” the agency explained. “Active systems include mechanisms that make it more difficult, but not impossible, to increase the speed of a vehicle above the posted speed limit and those that electronically limit the speed of the vehicle to fully prevent drivers from exceeding the speed limit.”

The NTSB board issued the recommendations last week after a 2018 Dodge Challenger rammed into a minivan at 103 mph in North Las Vegas in January 2022. The driver, however, was high on cocaine and PCP.

“This crash is the latest in a long line of tragedies we’ve investigated where speeding and impairment led to catastrophe, but it doesn’t have to be this way,” NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy said in last week’s press release. “We know the key to saving lives is redundancy, which can protect all of us from human error that occurs on our roads. What we lack is the collective will to act on NTSB safety recommendations.”

Pennsylvania Democrats Keep State House Majority By Aligning With Trump And Using Billionaire Funds

Published

Democrats managed to hang onto a thin, 102-101 majority in the Pennsylvania House, despite voters swinging Republican in the general election. They did it by spending big, using out-of-state billionaire money, and, in at least one case, aligning messaging with Trump.

Democrats, who want you to trust them to spend your tax dollars, spent roughly $4 million on a race in which a total of just 32,763 people voted. They did it to keep vulnerable state Rep. Frank Burns in office and hold onto their tenuous majority in the House.

Burns, a Democrat, was the incumbent candidate in Republican majority Cambria County. It is so Republican there that one day the seat will flip to red, and when it does, it probably will remain Republican for years. But it hasn’t flipped yet. Burns is the only Democrat who won a race in the county.

In Cambria, Trump got 70 percent of the votes, and Harris got 30 percent. In the Senate race, Democrat Bob Casey got 32 percent, and Republican Dave McCormick received 66 percent. That near 70-to-30-percent split favoring Republicans played out in the races for attorney general, auditor general, and state treasurer. But in the race for state representative, Frank Burns received 51 percent of the votes over Republican Amy Bradley’s 49 percent. With 16,815 votes, Burns beat Bradley by 867 votes. His victory means the Democrats will hang onto power in the Pennsylvania House and set the agenda for the coming session.

Republicans Look To Reshape State Goverments After Major 2024 Victories

Published

on

While the political world’s eyes are focused on Republicans winning trifecta control of the federal government for the first time since 2017, the GOP had many other major victories last week that deserve attention as well.

Throughout the country, Republicans scored significant wins in state legislative races imperative to implementing a conservative agenda moving forward.

In Arizona, Republicans are on track to maintain their majorities in the state House and Senate, preliminary election results from the New York Times suggest. Republicans could potentially expand their majorities in both chambers as well. The outcome marks a huge defeat for leftists, who spent millions of dollars to flip or “reach ties” in state legislatures including in Arizona, as The Federalist previously reported, where a slim GOP legislative majority separates the state from a Democrat trifecta takeover.

In South Carolina, unofficial results indicate Republicans won a veto-proof supermajority in the state Senate and held onto their supermajority in the state House of Representatives. Similar trends are also reflected in Iowa’s preliminary results, which show the state GOP is already projected to expand its majority in the state House.

In New Hampshire, Republicans are on track to maintain trifecta control of state government, according to early results. The GOP is projected to win the governor’s mansion and a supermajority in the Senate and could also expand its majority in the House compared to 2022 results.

Despite efforts by Kansas Democrat Gov. Laura Kelly and Democrats to take down Republican legislative candidates this cycle,

FEMA Employee Fired For Bypassing Homes With Trump Signs Says She Was Following Agency Protocol

Published

on

An employee who was terminated from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for ordering government workers to bypass homes of Trump supporters said she was simply following standard operating procedure.

On Friday, the Daily Wire reported that FEMA supervisor Marn’i Washington had instructed staff to “avoid homes advertising Trump” while “they canvassed Lake Placid, Florida to identify residents who could qualify for federal aid” after Hurricane Milton tore through the region in early October.

“Government employees told The Daily Wire that at least 20 homes with Trump signs or flags were skipped from the end of October and into November due to the guidance, meaning they were not given the opportunity to qualify for FEMA assistance,” the outlet reported. “Images shared with The Daily Wire show that houses were skipped over by the workers, who wrote in the government system messages such as: ‘Trump sign no entry per leadership.’”

Washington was promptly fired from the agency, and FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell condemned the conduct as “a clear violation of FEMA’s core values & principles to help people regardless of their political affiliation.”

“This was reprehensible,” Criswell said. “This employee has been terminated and we have referred the matter to the Office of Special Counsel.”

Washington, however, who was also terminated from her private sector job at a property management company, said in an interview with the Black Star Network published late Monday night that she was just following FEMA’s standard operating procedure.

“FEMA always preaches avoidance first and then de-escalation,”
