Meta’s Threads Won’t Revive The Magic Of Social Media

Published

on

Many of us hope we can return to a glorious past, or perhaps a fleeting moment, with the right policies, owner, and inertia. Maybe we can even RETVRN! to those halcyon days (at least, as halcyon as social media can ever be). There’s still the chance that Musk will save Twitter, though he’ll have to log off first. On Earth 2, Jack Dorsey’s new venture, Bluesky, could come to dominate the landscape. But back here on Earth 1, Meta Platform Inc.’s Threads — which was in no way rebranded and stripped-down Facebook — is the hot new kid on the block.

There’s also the chance the social media we currently know, love, and hate is in its buggy whip stage, soon to be replaced by something actually new. For now, though, we must resign ourselves to the fact that there’s no going home to that magical time in the middle of the ’00s when social media was a revolutionary idea and way to connect.

First, there was Myspace, which in hindsight was better than Facebook. It had its flaws and limitations, but it was more customizable, at least when it came to featuring music. It was the network of Gen X, so naturally it petered out, much like compact disc sales.

Facebook followed and briefly coexisted with Myspace before wholly supplanting it. Twitter, Instagram, and myriad short-lived projects followed.

Twitter would never overtake Facebook, at least in terms of profits or user base (the product that all social media actually

Trump Wins Michigan As Disillusioned Muslims Abandon Democrats

Published

on

As of Wednesday morning, Donald Trump is projected to win the battleground state of Michigan. This call came after he was already projected to win the presidential race.

At the time of publication, Trump is leading Harris in the state 49.8 percent to 48.3 percent with more than 95 percent of votes counted, according to The New York Times.

The victory marked Trump’s sweep of the Democrats’ so-called “blue wall” of the northern swing states of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. After Trump was projected to win multiple significant Sunbelt states, securing the “blue wall” became “Harris’ best shot” for victory, as NPR noted early on Wednesday morning. But the razor-thin margins slowly widened in favor of Trump throughout the night.

Michigan has been called for Trump. He sweeps the Big Ten states, destroys the “blue wall” again.

Michiganders turned out strong for the former president, even in seemingly unexpected locations.

The Detroit Free Press reported on Wednesday morning that Trump won the Detroit suburb of Dearborn — a Detroit suburb in which more than 54 percent of the population is of Arab descent, reports say.

“Trump won [Dearborn] with 42.48% of the vote over Vice President Kamala Harris, who received 36.26%,” The Detroit Free Press reported, citing results apparently provided to the outlet by City Clerk George Darany.

Once a reliable Democrat voting block, some Muslim voters have recently become disillusioned with Democrats over what they perceive as insufficient

Kamala Harris Admits That Everything She Said About Trump Was A Lie

Published

Failed presidential candidate Kamala Harris admitted on Wednesday that she knew every single attack she launched against President-Elect Donald Trump and his presidency was a bald-faced lie.

More than twelve hours after Trump delivered a stunning blow to the regime and swept both the popular vote and Electoral College, Harris took the stage at Howard University to begrudgingly concede. She could have conceded in the wee hours of the morning, but that would have required showing up when it mattered — something she clearly doesn’t do (see her disastrous handling of Afghanistan).

But it wasn’t her hollow speech about “unity” and “joy” that stood out. It was the moment she openly confessed to spreading egregious falsehoods about Trump for months, all in a desperate attempt to sway the election.

“To the young people that are watching, it is okay to feel sad and disappointed,” Harris said. “But please know it’s going to be okay.”

It’s going to be okay?

How can it be okay when Harris told us that her opponent is a fascist? She said a Trump victory would be “dangerous” and a “huge risk for America.” Harris claimed that Trump “wants to send the military after American citizens” and that “he is out for unchecked power.” She painted him as an existential threat to “democracy” itself.

But now it’s “going to be okay?”

The truth is, it’s easy for her to say that “it’s going to be okay” because it will

Elon Musk Is The Unsung Hero Of The 2024 Election

Published

on

It seemed unfathomable four years ago that the guy known for making electric cars and space tech would go on to play an instrumental role in shaping the discourse among the American electorate. Then again, nothing about U.S. politics is “normal” these days.

Amid the celebration of Donald Trump’s and Republicans’ election victories Tuesday night stands Elon Musk and his historic decision to purchase Twitter two years ago. What may have appeared as a trivial acquisition to some has been one of the most transformative decisions impacting freedom of speech in modern U.S. history.

Prior to Musk’s purchase, Twitter was just another weapon in the censorship industrial complex’s arsenal. The Big Tech company regularly colluded with the federal government to censor Americans whose posts — no matter how factually accurate — ran afoul of what regime bureaucrats found to be inconvenient to the dishonest narratives they pushed at any given time.

This unholy alliance knew no bounds, even going as far as to interfere in the 2020 election to the benefit of Joe Biden. When the New York Post dropped its infamous Hunter Biden laptop story documenting the Biden family’s foreign business dealings days before the 2020 contest, Twitter went into full-on censorship mode.

As documented in the Twitter Files, users were not permitted to share the story, even via direct message. The Big Tech company further removed links and posted warnings that the article may be “unsafe.”

It was only years later that Americans learned through testimony
