D.C.’s Cherry Blossoms Illustrate The Beauty And Fragility Of Spring

Published

Ephemeral. Ethereal. A moment in time.

Washington’s cherry blossoms have a century-old history and different meanings that come with that history. But at their core, they serve as both a welcome harbinger of spring and a reminder that spring, as with all seasons of life, does not last forever.

Symbol of Peace

Strange as it sounds, the cherry blossom trees in the nation’s capital have their roots in a war over a century old, that took place half a world away, and in which the United States did not participate. In 1905, President Theodore Roosevelt served as an intermediary for negotiations that led to the Treaty of Portsmouth, which ended the Russo-Japanese War.

The efforts didn’t just make Roosevelt the first president to win the Nobel Peace Prize for his part in creating the opening for an end to the conflict. In part due to the diplomatic ties fostered during that period, Washington received a donation of cherry trees — officially a gift from Japan and its capital of Tokyo to the United States and its capital.

And while the first batch of trees, donated in 1910, had to be destroyed due to an infestation of insects, the second donation, made in 1912, has been preserved, with plantings made from the original trees’ cuttings to protect their genetic lineage.

Springtime Tourist Trap

As Washington grew in standing as a global capital in the first half of the 20th century, the cherry blossoms likewise rose in stature and repute. The Jefferson

Elon Musk Predicts Kamala Harris Will ‘Shut Down’ X If Elected President

Published

X owner Elon Musk predicted on Monday that Kamala Harris will weaponize the Justice Department to shut down the free speech platform if elected president this week. The moment came during the SpaceX founder’s appearance on comedian Joe Rogan’s podcast.

During the interview, Musk referenced the U.K.-based “disinformation” group known as the Center for Countering Digitial Hate (CCDH) and its attempts to, as the billionaire described, “push[] … advertisers to boycott [X].” As my colleague Tristan Justice previously reported, CCDH is “integral to the left’s dystopian censorship regime” and colluded with NBC News in 2020 “to pressure Google into demonetizing The Federalist and Zero Hedge.”

Musk said that “some of the boycott[s]” against X are “starting to lift,” and predicted that “most” of them will go away if Donald Trump is elected president. He further noted that the boycotts “will get stronger” if Harris wins and that her administration would “shut down [X].”

“There’s no way that the Kamala puppet regime would allow X to exist,” Musk said.

When pressed by Rogan on how he thinks a Harris administration could accomplish such a feat, the Tesla CEO suggested they could “sic the DOJ” on X by citing so-called “misinformation.”

“They’ve had this whole thing about like hate speech, misinformation, whatever, except that they’re the ones pushing the misinformation,” Musk said. “But that doesn’t stop them from filing massive lawsuits and using the DOJ.”

As an example, Musk cited how the DOJ is currently suing SpaceX “for not hiring asylum

The Best Thing For America Would Be A Donald Trump Blowout

Published

on

If Democrats had their way, Donald Trump wouldn’t be anywhere near the presidency again. So wrote MSNBC’s Hayes Brown on the eve of the 2024 election’s final day. But Trump is near the presidency — perhaps by decisive margins — and Democrats are apoplectic.

The “biggest contributor to the unease that millions of Americans have felt as Election Day approaches,” Brown wrote, is “that there is any tension about the outcome at all. The 2024 election should not be anywhere near as close as it appears, not with Trump’s name on the ballot for the third straight election.”

Brown is right that the election shouldn’t be close, but he’s wrong about why.

The best thing for the country would not be a big or small victory for Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and their phony “unity” schtick. It wouldn’t even be a razor-thin Trump-Vance win. The best outcome for the health of our nation — and democracy — would be a landslide victory for Donald Trump.

Just Deserts

First, and most importantly, America needs a decisive victory to communicate to Democrat leaders, media propagandists, bureaucratic tyrants, violent rioters, Big Tech censors, race hustlers, and rogue three-letter agencies that their underhanded and often illegal actions will not be rewarded with electoral victory.

No, Democrats don’t deserve to win after waging unprecedented lawfare against their political opponents, from the former president to peaceful pro-life protesters. They don’t deserve to win after turning federal agencies into a Democrat get-out-the-vote hydra. Or after lying about the integrity of

Joe Rogan Endorses Trump After Discussing ‘Most Compelling Case For Trump You’ll Hear’ With Elon Musk

Published

Popular podcaster and comedian Joe Rogan endorsed former President Donald Trump on the night before the election after a conversation with business magnate Elon Musk.

“If it wasn’t for him we’d be f-cked,” Rogan said of Musk in a post on X. “He makes what I think is the most compelling case for Trump you’ll hear, and I agree with him every step of the way.”

“For the record, yes, that’s an endorsement of Trump,” Rogan added.

The endorsement comes after Rogan had both Trump and his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio, on his show for lengthy interviews. He apparently tried to get Vice President Kamala Harris on the show as well, but indicated that her campaign had tried to preemptively neuter the interview by limiting the time and scope.

“I view this election as a turning point, like a fork in the road of destiny that is incredibly important,” Musk said. “You know, I’ve not been politically active until this election. And the reason I’ve been politically active this election is because I think if we don’t, if we don’t elect Trump, I think we will lose, we will lose democracy in this country.”

“What I’m saying is like, this election is the last chance to preserve democracy in America. Mark my words,” he added. “Everything they accuse Trump of, they are guilty of. And if Trump doesn’t win, this will be the last real election in America.”

Rogan and Musk marveled at the many hoaxes levied
