Biden’s ‘Security’ Proposal Earmarks Four Times As Much For Ukraine’s Border As Our Own

President Joe Biden is holding our own border security hostage in order to funnel more tax dollars to Ukraine. This week, the White House pitched a combined $100 billion emergency “security” funding package to Congress primarily aimed at confronting Russia, with less than 15 percent of the measure’s proposed spending set aside for our southern border. 

In a prime-time address from the Oval Office Thursday night, Biden presented the package as “an urgent budget request to fund America’s national security needs” and “to support our critical partners, including Israel and Ukraine.”

More than $61 billion outlined in the proposal, however, is directed towards Ukraine. Less than $15 billion goes to security for the southern border, which Biden’s proposal makes dependent on lawmakers’ willingness to ramp up Ukraine funding by about 50 percent. The Biden administration already committed $113 billion in Ukraine aid last year, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.

“It’s a smart investment that’s going pay dividends for American security for generations, help us keep American troops out of harm’s way, help us build a world that is safer, more peaceful and more prosperous for our children and grandchildren,” Biden said Thursday night.

Ohio Republican Sen. J.D. Vance blasted Biden’s proposal to combine all aid measures into one as “disgraceful.”
