Two Pennsylvania Counties Extend Voting Hours After Problems At Polls

Published

on

Polls opened at 7 a.m. on Election Day in Pennsylvania, but not in Laflin Borough, in Luzerne County. The polls there opened at 8:30, an hour and a half late.

In response, the Luzerne County Board of Elections went to court seeking permission to extend voting hours in Laflin, which is near Wilkes-Barre. The court agreed to the extension and ordered the polling place to be open for 90 extra minutes, closing at 9:30 p.m.

The Luzerne County Democrat party and the state Republican Party joined the county in requesting an extension.

The court filing did not explain why the polling place opened late, saying only that the Board of Elections learned that “election officers failed to timely open the polling location in Laughlin which resulted in delays in the process of voting.”

Local television WNEP reported that the judge of elections arrived late and when the poll did finally open, workers could not open the ballot scanner, leaving the first voters to vote by paper.

Bad Ballots

Voting was extended in Cambria County too, after the electronic voting system software malfunctioned. This caused long lines, and some voters left before voting.

According to Cambria’s court filing to request extended voting hours, the system was down for hours and was not functioning by the time the county filed the request for more time.

The court agreed to extend voting until 10 p.m., but after 8 p.m. in Cambria, all votes will be provisional.

North Carolina Called For Trump In First Swing-State Victory Of Election Night

Published

on

Former President Donald Trump is projected to win North Carolina, the first swing state called on election night, according to The Associated Press.

Trump won 50.8 percent of the vote against Vice President Kamala Harris’ 48 percent as of 11:30 p.m., the AP reported. At the time of publication, 92 percent of the votes were in.

North Carolina has been seen as a “toss-up” state since Harris first entered the race, according to Newsweek. But election night results soon began to indicate a Trump victory.

Trump won Anson County, North Carolina, which has voted Democrat in every presidential race at least since Richard Nixon — and before that, likely since Reconstruction, according to WFAE. Its population is nearly 50 percent black, a demographic group that typically leans Democrat. But Trump won the county with nearly 51 percent of the vote.

An interesting data point. Donald Trump just won Anson County, North Carolina. The county is 40% Black. Trump becomes just the second Republican to win this county since the 1870s. (For people keeping score, that means since Reconstruction).

Trump also won North Carolina in 2016 and 2020, Newsweek reported.

Florida’s Puerto Rican County Swings Dramatically For Trump Despite Democrats’ ‘Garbage’ Smears

Published

on

Donald Trump once again swept Florida, and with more than 95 percent of the vote tallied in Osceola County, Trump is leading Kamala Harris 50.2 percent to 48.7 percent. That margin may not seem too significant at first glance, but for two reasons, it’s big.

First, recent history shows Republicans not performing well in this part of Florida. In 2016, Osceola County broke for Hillary Clinton by a whopping 25 points. In 2020, Joe Biden carried it by a strong 14 points. Today, just four years later, it’s effectively a tie, with a slight Republican edge.

Second, roughly 1 in 3 county residents is Puerto Rican, as of 2020. In fact, Osceola County, more than half of which is Hispanic, represents the largest concentration of Puerto Ricans outside the U.S. island territory.

That territory is basically a floating pile of trash — or so said insult comic Tony Hinchcliffe during Donald Trump’s massive Madison Square Garden rally, among plenty of other jabs at everyone else’s expense. But Trump’s detractors took their cue, recycling their cries of Republican “racism” and claiming Democrats comprise the party of unity and decency. Puerto Rico thus became a defining part of Democrats’ closing message — that is, until Biden torpedoed it.

On a Harris campaign call with Latino voters at the end of October, Biden went on a Puerto Rico tangent and ended up calling Trump supporters, also known as half the country, “garbage.”

“The only garbage I see floating out there is [Trump’s] supporters,” Biden

North Carolina Passes Citizens-Only Voting Amendment

Published

on

North Carolina voters are projected to have passed a constitutional amendment specifying that only U.S. citizens can vote in elections.

As of this article’s publication, preliminary results show the amendment with more than 75 percent of support from voters. The New York Times projected the proposal’s passage.

As The Federalist previously reported, the amendment stipulates that “only a citizen of the United States” who is 18 years old and meets existing voter eligibility requirements may vote in elections held in the Tar Heel State. The measure was sent to voters for approval after it was passed by the state’s Republican-controlled House (99-12) and Senate (40-4) earlier this year.

Other states to have similar initiatives on their respective 2024 ballots include  WisconsinIowaKentuckySouth Carolina, and Idaho.

Efforts to prevent aliens from influencing American elections come amid Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ invasion at the U.S.-Mexico border and increasing concerns that foreign nationals could exploit existing federal loopholes to interfere in America’s electoral system.

Despite attempts by their media allies to downplay such worries, Democrats have openly pushed for granting foreign nationals the ability to vote in U.S. elections. From blue cities permitting aliens to vote in their elections to elected leftists fighting efforts to repeal such policies, Democrats have made it abundantly clear where they stand on the problem.

Blue cities such as San Francisco, for example, permit some aliens — even those who are illegally present — to vote in school board races. In San Francisco, foreign nationals can even run elections: In February, the city’s board
